Obituary

Mrs. Anna Erby Everette, 69 of New Orleans, Louisiana transitioned on September 29, 2024. Anna was born on December 30, 1954, in Blackwell, Arkansas, to Earl and Annie Mae Blackmon Erby. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savor and joined St. Mathews no. 3 in Blackwell. Anna is a 1973 graduate of Morrilton Senior High School. Also, in 1973 she married W.T. Everette, Jr., after which the couple had three beautiful children. She was married to W.T. for 51 years. After leaving Morrilton, she attended and graduated bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Central Arkansas, University of Memphis, and University of New Orleans. After an outstanding career, she retired from the Civil Service Department at the City of New Orleans, having served as the Deputy Chief of Personnel Services. Mrs. Everette was a resolute member of St. Mathias Catholic Church (later Blessed Trinity Church) for almost 40 years. She served her Church as a member of the Choir, RCIA, CCD, as a Lector and as a Lay Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver, having served as Grand Lady, Vice Grand Lady, Financial Secretary and Treasurer. She was selected and exemplified as a member of the Ladies of Grace, the Fourth Degree Division of the Knights of Peter Claver. Mrs. Everette was preceded in death by her parents, Earl, and Annie Mae Erby, her brothers, Sterling Erby, Robert Erby, Lee K. Erby; her mother and father-in-law, Claudia Garrett Everette and W.T. Everette, Sr. Anna will be lovingly remembered by her husband, W.T. Everette, Jr., her children Jacqueline Everette-Knox (Donnie) of Houston, TX, W.T. Everette, III (Courtney) of Chicago, IL, LaClaudia Everette-Tickles (Marlon) of New Orleans. She leaves to cherish her memory, five grandchildren, Demond Williams, Aubrey, and Riley Knox, W.T. Everette, IV and Kinlee Everette. Additionally, she will be missed by her sisters, Glendora Erby Dunbar, Veatrix Erby Williams (John), Dorothy Erby Alexander and brother, Rev. Paul S. Erby (Dorinda). Anna was a great sister-in-law to Claude Everette (Lisa), Daniel Howard Everette (Ella) and Linda Everette Williams (Ralph). She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved and adored. Anna had a true passion for her service to God, to her church, and to her family. As a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary, she never missed a State Conference or National Convention. She loved to travel, read, and do crossword puzzles. As a combination of dedication to faith and her love of traveling, she routinely attended large Catholic conferences, including the "World Meeting of Families;" "National Black Catholic Congress;" and "World Youth Day" established by Pope John Paul II in Denver and Rome. Anna was genuinely loved by all people who knew her; she will be missed by many.
