Chester LeeByers was born May 12, 1934 inCleveland, Arkansasto the late George Freeman Byers and Zellar Mae Byers. He made his transition to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his residence. Striving to make a better life for his family, he moved them to Kansas City, MO. He was employed at Northeast Dog and Cat Hospital as a caretaker for animals. Uponreturning to Cleveland, Arkansas, he became a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. Chester was very active in the church, serving as a deacon and a member of New Prospect Male Chorus. He later married Elizabeth Byers who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were three brothers; Ervin Byers, Bervin Byers, andIke Byers. He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons; Jimmy Canady, Billy Byers and Chester Byers Jr. all of Kansas City, MO, three daughters; Elsie Marie (Kenneth)Sylvan, Ivy LeeCaston both of Kansas City, MO and Francine Byers of Cleveland, Arkansas, two brothers, Everette(Nancy) Byers of Morrilton, Arkansas and George F, (Rosie) Byers of Cleveland, Arkansas, two sisters, Janice Byers Brown of LittleRock, Arkansas and Geraldine Canady of Cleveland, Arkansas, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mr. Byers will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Arkansas by Rev. Patrick Greene, Sr. Burial will be in New Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hattieville.
