Christine Martin, age 67, of Conway, Arkansas formerly of Chicago, Illinois passed away December 7, 2013. On September 27, 1946, Christine was born the third daughter of Walter and Zelma Lawrence.Christine's mother and father both preceded her in death. When Christine was a small girl, she was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois.She learned to love the Lord at an early age.As young girls, she and her sisters toured churches singing praises to the Lord.She loved her sisters, they were her best friends. Christine met and married Michael Martin in 1961.To their union, they had three children, Lucretia, Michael Jr., and Tammee.Her husband, Michael, sister, Sheba, daughter, Lucretia and son, Michael all preceded her in death. Christine devoted her life to her children.She taught them so many things. Christine left Chicago to live with her daughter Tammee in Conway, Arkansas. While in Arkansas, she joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.The Mt. Carmel family loved ""Christine"" or ""Mama Chris"" as the called her. On December 7th, God in His infinite wisdom, decided that it was time for Christine to rest.She lived a wonderful life, and was a genuinely happy person. She leaves to cherish her memoryher daughter, Tammee (Kevin) Layne, her son Theodore (Teddy), grandsons Corie, Derrian, and Kevin Jr., and her granddaughter Alicia, great-grandson Avion, three sisters, Ellen, Shirley (Jerome), and Stephanie, an abundance of nieces and nephews, that she adored, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Martin will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Gatling Chapel 10133 S. Halsted Street, Chicago, Illinois by Rev. Ronald Garner Interment will be in Burr Oak Cemetery 4400 W. 12th St, Alsip, Illinois by Gatling Chapel. Arrangements by Wilson & Jarrett.
