Clifton Lee Robertson, age 93, returned to his Heavenly Fathers Home on July 2, 2015.He was born on October 27, 1921, in Morrilton, AR, to the late Homer and Freida Bell Robertson.He was the third of four children born of whom two preceded him in death, Atha Lee Robertson Powell and Cumire Robertson Ellis. He was a graduate of L.W. Sullivan High School, Morrilton, AR.He enlisted into the U.S. Navy. He served at Port Chicago Naval Base in California. Clifton and Ernestines courtship and marriage had a romantic twist. While on furlough, he whisked his bride from her parents farm in Neelyville, MO.The espoused couple tracked down an available judge who was plowing his field in Corning, AR.They were married on June 16, 1945, and the Robertson Legacy began.They made their home in Morrilton, AR, and to this union, nine children were born.He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Alloise, a grandson, Kelvin Robertson, and only weeks ago by his lovely wife, Ernestine Mable Robertson. At an early age,Brother Robertson professed a hope in Christ and joined St. Matthew #2 and later united with Union Baptist Church.He served the church in the following areas: chairman of the deacon board, director of BTU, Willing Workers Club, choir, and custodian.Around the church, he worked as carpenter, electrician, tended the grounds, and anything else his church needed. Hed give time and talent for a better worshipping experience.He served as president of the Middlewestern District Ushers and financial chairman. Bro. Robertsons work experience included Missouri Pacific Railroad, Oil Mill, andComptons Mills, where he retired.In retirement, he loved working outside farming produce, raising rabbits, harvesting pecans, maintaining the property, and watching westerns until dementia reduced his activities. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children:Clifford Robertson (Valeria), Louisville, KY; H. Byron Robertson (Norma), Sherwood, AR; Linda Robertson, Little Rock, AR; Elaine Brown (Charles) Plumerville, AR; Burnett Robertson (Joyce), Ft. Smith, AR; Rickey Robertson (Juanita), St. Louis, MO; Peggy Wolfe (Grady), Sherwood, AR; Theresa Robertson, Little Rock, AR, twenty-one grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren, one sister Gladys Mae Robertson, Morrilton, AR, a dedicated caregiver, Janice Walls and a Christian army of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service for Mr. Robertson will be Thursday, July 9, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Union Missionary Baptist Church inMorrilton, Arkansas by Pastor C. Ramont Morris.Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morrilton. Family visitation will be Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Union Missionary Baptist Church.
