David Ushery 70, of Morrilton, Arkansas transitioned on Thursday March 26, 2026. David George Ushery, known to many as "Jessie” was born on December 26, 1955, in Morrilton, Arkansas. He was a man whose life was defined by his love for sports, outdoors and mostly the people closest to him. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Greater Union Hill Baptist Church.
David was a passionate sports fan and an accomplished athlete in his own right. Among his proudest achievements were being recognized by close friends as a two-time state champion in both football and basketball at Morrilton High School. His competitive spirit and dedication to the game stayed with him throughout his life.
On February 27, 1999, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Phillis Kincy. To this union one son was born, Terrin Ushery.
David is preceded in death by his wife Phillis (Kincy) Ushery; father, George Ursey; mother, Catherine (Rosbia) Stricklen; stepfather, Lee Allen Stricklen; brothers, George Ursey III, Gary Allen Ursery, and sister Tina Ursery.
David leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Carlos (Jennifer) Ushery of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Terrin (Casey) Ushery of Morrilton, Arkansas; stepson Kenny Gibbons of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; three brothers: Wayne (Karen) Stricklen of Morrilton, Arkansas. Keith Stricklen of Frisco, Texas and Kenneth Stricklen of Conway, Arkansas; eight sisters: Mary Payne of Aurora, Colorado, Carolyn Ursey of Lakewood, Colorado, Kathy Stricklen, Vivian Stricklen, Felicia Stricklen, Alice Stricklen, Paries (Byon) Chambers of Morrilton, Arkansas and Samantha Stricklen of North Little Rock, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Brianna Ushery, Braylin Ushery, Waverly Ushery and Kai Gibbons along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
The body may have run its course, but the soul lives forever.
