Sister Delia Hammons was born to the late Booker Johnson and Vina White on July 11, 1931. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Conway Regional Hospital in Conway, Arkansas. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined St. Matthew No.2 Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mason. Sister Hammons' work in the church included the Missionary Board, choir member and Pastor's Aide. She remained a faithful member until her death. She was married in 1950 to Roscoe Hammons. They were married fifty-six years. To this union thirteen children were born. Her husband and two daughters, Tammy and Kristian preceded her in death. She worked for Crompton Arkansas Mills and Riverview Healthcare for numerous years. She leaves to cherish her memories; seven sons, Rockie Hammons of Ft. Hood, TX, Freddie Hammons of Kansas City, MO, Robert (Lanita) Hammons of Plumerville, AR, Kevin (Christie) Hammons of Conway, AR, Michael (Marilyn) Hammons, Kenneth Hammons and Sammy Hammons all of Morrilton, AR, four daughters; Carolyn Toney and Beverly (Arthur Jr.) Giles of Lake Jackson, TX, Treasa Holmes and Sharon (Samuel) McDaniel of Morrilton, AR, one brother, William White of Chicago, IL, one sister-in-law, Mazie Wright, who was like a sister, one brother-in-law, Astell Hammons, twenty-five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs. Hammons will be Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew No.2 Missionary Baptist Church in Morrilton by Dr. Henry Harris.The body will liein state at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. day of the funeral.Burial will be at Oddfellows Cemetery in Morrilton.Pallbearers are Freddie Hammons, Kenneth Hammons, Micheal Hammons, Robert Hammons, Sammy Hammons, Kevin Hammons and Rockie Hammons.Flower Bearers areLarissa Hammons, Sheena Hammons, Miranda Hammons, Felicia Holloway, Melody Simonini, Brandy Giles, Paris Hammons, Marissa Hammons, Lindsey McDaniel, Latoyna Holmes and Breasia Chambers.
