Donnie Ray Smith was born June 23, 1956 in Morrilton, Arkansas to William MC and Ruby Jewel Smith. He attended Menifee High School, in Menifee, Arkansas. He worked in the construction business for many years until his health failed him. Donnie Ray was loved by many. He was also known as Ray Ray, Sam, and Cool. He had a unique style of his own and it could not be duplicated. He is preceded in death by his father William MC Smith and his grandparents Willie Smith and Armalee Smith. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother, Ruby Jewel Smith of the Union Chapel Community, three children, Donnie LaQuette Donald and D'Shana LaRae Nichols both of Conway, Arkansas, and Shelton David (Carolina) Nichols of Spokane, Washington; three sisters, Brenda (Benny) Cain of Springfield, Arkansas, Minnie Jean (Calvin) Walls of St Louis, Missouri, and Lisa Washington of the Union Chapel Community, four brothers, Dwight (Mary) Smith of Plumerville, Arkansas, Jackie (Doris) Washington of Conway, Arkansas, Willie Eddie Smith of Maumelle, Arkansas, and Tyrone Smith of the Union Chapel Community,a devoted and special friend Ms. Ava Woods that was with him until God took him home, seven grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed. Funeral service for Mr. Smith will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, Arkansas by Rev. Elijah Carpenter.Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Plumerville, Arkansas. The body will lie in state for viewing from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church the day of the funeral.
