Elizabeth ""Eliza Canady"" Byers was born February 22, 1929 in Hattieville, Arkansas. Elizabeth was the fourth of seven children born to the late Ozie and Mae Frances Alexander Canady. She attended the Liberty School in Hattieville, Arkansas. Elizabeth accepted Christ at an early age and united with the New Prospect Baptist Church where her membership continued until death. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, one son and one great-grandson. Elizabeth loved to raise a garden, she enjoyed growing vegetables and raising chickens. Sheleaves to hold dear her memories,her husband Chester Lee Byers, Sr of the home, two daughters, Faye Sanders of Flint, Michigan and Shelbia Jean Bennett of Davenport, Iowa, six stepchildren, Billy Byers, Chester Lee Byers, Jr, Elsie Marie Silvers, Ivy Lee Byers, Jimmy Canady all of Kansas City, MO and Francine Byers of Cleveland, AR, two sisters, Cora (Fervet)Surratt of Morrilton and Sylvia Byers of Kansas City, MO, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs Byers will be Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, AR by Rev. Patrick Greene, Sr. Visitation at the church will be from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. the day of the funeral. Burial will be in New Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hattieville, AR.
