Sister Ernestine Mable Willis Robertson age 90, returned to her heavenly Father on March 30, 2015.She was born on July 23, 1924, in Morrilton, AR, to the late Simpson and Alloua Leapheart Willis, a sharecropper and homemaker.Sister Robertson was the tenth of eleven children born.Her ten siblings preceded her in death.Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately provided her peace. Ernestine and Cliftons courtship and marriage had a romantic twist.While he was on furlough from the U.S. Navy, he whisked his bride from her parents farm in Neelyville, MO. The espoused couple tracked down an available judge who was plowing his field in Corning, AR.They were married on the spot and that was the beginning of the Robertson legacy.They made their home in Morrilton, AR, and to this union, nine children were born.She was preceded in death by her daughter Alloise. At an early age, she became a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Kenwood, Arkansas, and later served well in the Christian affairs of the Union Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, Usher Board member, member of the kitchen committee, Willing Workers Club, Missionary Society, Deaconess and Mothers Board representing her church in the Middle Western District, Regular Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and the National Baptist Convention USA. During her child rearing years, Sister Robertson was a stay at home mother. When she entered the workforce, she became a teachers aide.She was an educator at heart and insisted that her own children work to keep their minds busy, for an idle mind was the devils workshop.Not only did she inspire her children, but her grands and great-grands as well. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Clifton Lee Robertson; children:Clifford Robertson (Valerie), Louisville, KY; H. Byron Robertson (Norma), Sherwood, AR; Linda Robertson, Little Rock, AR; Elaine Brown (Charles), Plumerville, AR; Burnett Robertson (Joyce), Ft. Smith, AR; Rickey Robertson (Juanita), St. Louis, MO; Peggy Wolfe (Grady), Sherwood, AR; Theresa Robertson, Little Rock, AR; twenty-two grandchildren, and thirty-one great-grandchildren.She is also survived by one aunt, Elizabeth Willis Carper, Benton, Louisiana; two sisters-in-law, Joann Willis, St. Louis, MO, Gladys Mae Robertson, Morrilton, AR, and a Christian army of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Robertson will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 11:00 A.M. at Union Baptist Church in Morrilton by Rev. Corey Morris. Interment will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Morrilton. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. the day of the funeral. Family visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Union Baptist Church, 201 N. Bentley St., Morrilton.
