Mr. Frank Byers was called home peacefully to be with the Lord on the morning of November 11, 2011 at St. Vincent Doctors Hospital, Little Rock, AR. Frank was born in Cleveland, AR on January 6, 1920 to the union of the late Walter and Carrie Price Byers. Frank was raised in a loving Christian home with three sisters; Leetha, Othelia, Ruby and seven brothers; John, Rufus, Eulus, James (Jake) Daniel, Earnest and Harris. He received his education at Center School, Cleveland, AR. During his childhood, Frank professed a belief and committed his life to Christ and united with Moore's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Cleveland, AR. In 1946, Frank relocated along with his wife Rosa and children to Kansas City, MO. Staying true to his faith, he soon upon moving to Kansas City united with Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church where he served diligently. Frank and Rosa were married for twenty years until the Lord decided it was time for her to relocate once again to her heavenly home. During this most difficult and sad, time Frank remained a devoted and loving father who continued to be the inspiration and pillow of faith for his children. He was a great providerand protector for the family he so dearly loved. While residing in Kansas City, MO, Frank was gainfully employed at General Motors, Butternut Bakery and Dolly Madison Bakery. Having inherited his strong work ethics and entrepreneurial skills from his dad, his vision was to become a self-employed business owner. Frank was the proud owner of ""Byers DX Filling Station"" located on 5th Street in Kansas and ""Byers Standard Oil Filling Station"" located on Indiana, Kansas City, MO. Frank successfully owned and operated both filling stations for over twenty years! Upon retirement from the bakery business and the world of entrepreneurship Frank relocated back to Cleveland, AR his birth place and childhood community with son Theotis and daughter Staytoria. On July 5, 1972, Frank united in marriage with the love of his life Bertha Canady. Frank and Bertha were happily married for forty years. In 1988 Frank, along with Bertha, once again relocated moving to Morrilton, AR Frank enjoyed life and adored his family. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters, seven brothers, daughter Beatrice and son Lyonell. Precious memories are left to his wife, Bertha; three sons Walter (Edwina), Frank (Brenda) and Theotis all of Kansas City MO; six daughters, Joyceteen (Sylvester) Roseburr, Staytoria Byers and Gerogia Rainey all of Kansas City, MO, Phyllis Canady of Little Rock, AR, LaVeta Hunter and Janice (Fred) Haynes of Northe Little Rock, AR; one brother- in-law Herman (Canera) Canady ofCleveland, AR and sister in-law Veta Canady of Kansas City, MO, 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Mr. Byers will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, AR by Elder Clarence Hobbs. Burial will be In Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Cleveland. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. the day of the funeral.
