Ida Catherine Anderson Parks was born May 20, 1926 to the late James Anderson and Comer McGee Brockington in Morrilton, Arkansas.She departed this life Saturday, September 12, 2015 at home. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with St. Matthew # 2 Baptist Church.Sister Parks was a Sunday school teacher, usher, and a member of the Mother's Board.She remained a faithful member until her health failed. She was married to Elbert (PJ) Parks on October 23, 1943.To this union, eighteen children were born. Three died at childbirth and one son, James died September 26, 1961.She worked for St. Anthony's Hospital, Dardanelle Chicken Plant and Arrow Automotive, where she retired.During the summer, she volunteered her time coaching softball.She loved sports and followed her children wherever they went.You could always hear her in the stands spending time with the umpires or referees. Preceding her in death, was her husband, Elbert (PJ) Parks with 71 years of marriage, her parents, stepfather, Thado Brockington, sisters Easter Canady, Louvenia (Baby Lou) Verser, brothers, Eddie Lee Brockington, Tommy Brockington, Albert Brockington, Percy Brockington and granddaughter, Latasha Green. She leaves to cherish her memories, seven sons, E.J. Parks, Robert (Marcie) Parks, St. Louis, Missouri, Dwight (Donna) Parks, Little Rock, AR, Johnny Parks, Tommy (Martesia) Parks, Morrilton, Arkansas, William Parks, Little Rock, Arkansas, Charles Parks, St. Louis, Missouri, seven daughters, Ethel (John) Green, Kansas City, Missouri, Coma (James) Wilborn, Morrilton, Arkansas, Marilyn Williams, Little Rock, Arkansas, Lucretia Akins, Irving, Texas, Vivian (Douglas) Jeffers, Little Rock, Arkansas, Ellen Parks, Little Rock, Arkansas, Gail Parks, DeSoto, Texas, three brothers, James Anderson, Jr., LoyeAnderson of Stockton, California, Billy Brockington of Kansas City, Kansas, six sisters, Earnesten Owens, Betty Sue Brown-Lazaro of Stockton, California, Lula Lee-Carter of Fairfield, California, Benice Clark, Mary Boyd, Betty Fowler of Kansas City, Kansas, sister-in-law, Alice Parks, 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs. Parks will be Saturday, September 19, 2015, 12:00 noon at St. Matthew #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 W. ChurchStreet, Morrilton, Arkansas by Dr. Henry Harris.Interment will be in Pleasant Hill #2 Cemetery in Kenwood. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon the day of the funeral. Family visitation will be Friday, September 18, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to7:30 P.M. at St. Matthew #2 Missionary Baptist Church.
