James Edward Moore was born July 25, 1934 to the late T.C. and Hettie (Mitchem) Moore in Cleveland, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters and four brothers, his wife, Ruthie Mae (Byers) Moore, three daughters, Lachelle Moore, Donna Fletcher, Helen Byers, three grandchildren, Darwin Jones, Jeremy Byers and Ravin Garlington. James confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Arkansas, where he served as a, faithful member until his health failed. He was a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the Male Chorus, Adult Choir and a quartet called the Soul Stirrers. He was a member of Cypress Creek District Laymen and their male chorus. He worked at a sawmill, cotton mill, and was self-employed. He retired as a truck driver. He departed this life on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home. He leaves to cherish his memories; one son Wilbur (Lynn) Moore of Morrilton, six daughters, Jennifer Foster, Loretta Moore, Verna (Ronald) Foster, Tanya (Glen Dale) Duncan, Karen (Wayne) Stricklen all of Morrilton, Arkansas and Nannette (Van) Garlington of Cleveland, Arkansas, three sisters: Hazel Byers , Freddie Austin of Kansas, City, Missouri and Venita Henson of Tuscon, Arizona, seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and several adopted children who called him Daddy James. Funeral service for Mr. Moore will be Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Arkansas by Rev. Patrick H. Greene, Sr. Burial will be in New Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hattieville, Arkansas. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. the day of the funeral.
