Jewel B. Byers was born to the late Jonathan Canady and Gertrude McFall on September 1, 1939 in Hattieville, Arkansas. Her parents, husband and two sons preceded her in death. Jewel was married to the late Ervin Byers. To this union six children were born. At an early age, Jewel accepted Christ in the Sardis Community. After moving to the Cleveland area, she was a part of Moores Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Her education was at Mt. Zion in Sardis and the L.W. Sullivan School in Morrilton, Arkansas. She was a housewife. She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Kenneth Byers and Marvin Byers of Cleveland, Arkansas, Lynn Ervin Byers of Dardanelle, Arkansas and Lauriel Dwayne Byers of Springfield, Arkansas, one daughter, Zella Davis of Morrilton, Arkansas, two sisters Listerene Jones and Catherine Sneed, fifteen grandchildern, six great-grandchildren, one aunt Bertha Byers (Frank), one uncle, Herman Canady (Canary) nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Byers will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. September 26, 2009 at Moores Chapel A.M.E. Zion Churchby Elder Clarence Hobbs. Family visitation will be Friday From 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. the day of the funeral. Burial will be in Moores Chapel Cemetery in Cleveland, Arkansas.
