John Lee Payne, age 73, of Morrilton, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019.

He was a deacon at Greater Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a licensed funeral director working with Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Home for over 30 years. He also served as an alderman Position 1-Ward 3 on the Morrilton City Council from 2002 until his illness this year.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Payne of Morrilton, one son, Jermaine Payne (Ashley), two daughters, Yulonda Marbury (Dequonce) and Kimberly Heard (Oscar) all of Conway, Arkansas, five sisters, Helen R. Payne, Lorean Jackson (Floyd), Helen L. Payne all of Morrilton, Arkansas, Dorothy Carter (Ronald) of Conway, Arkansas and Mildred Walker (Tommy) of Little Rock, Arkansas two brothers, Ray Charles Payne (Charlotte) of Menifee, Arkansas and Terry Payne (Doris) of Morrilton, Arkansas, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Deacon John Payne will be Thursday, December 26, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at the Morrilton Devil Dog Arena, 1400 Poor Farm Road in Morrilton, Arkansas by Rev. Ronald G. Chargois.

Interment will be held in Owens Cemetery in Plumerville, Arkansas by Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Public viewing will be from 2:00 to 5:00 Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Home Chapel.
