Obituary

Mother Louise Virgil Harris was born November 15, 1922 in Menifee, Arkansas to the late Carlina C. Virgil and Ida Bell Purifoy.She departed this life on Saturday, August 16, 2014. She confessed a hope in Christ, August 1935, and united with Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Plumerville, Arkansas under the pastorate of Rev. T. L. Dorris.Later in 1943, she joined the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.She served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary, president of the Women's Mission, choir member and the church's treasurer for twenty-five years.She was a member of Cypress Creek District Choir. She was given the title Mother of the church in 2007 where she remained faithful until her homegoing. One of her accomplishments in life, includes earning her GED from Disciples of Christ Literacy Program 2005. On June 11, 1939, she married Louria RB Harris, Sr. They were married for 32 years.Her husband, Louria RB Harris, Sr., and one son, Louria RB Harris, Jr. preceded her in death.She was the last of 15 children (6 boys and 9 girls). She leaves to cherish her memory five sons; Robert (Sue) Harris, LeRoy (Linda) Harris of Kansas City, Missouri, Lee Otis Harris of Tucker, Arkansas, Michael (Veronica) Harris of Morrilton, Arkansas and Tyron Harris of Little Rock, Arkansas, six daughters; Thelma (Mac) Hammonds of Center Ridge, Arkansas, Velma Arnold, Mary Welspom, Wilma (John) Phelps, and Sheila (Tim) Williams all of Springfield, Arkansas and Gail (Steve) Reese of Plumerville, Arkansas, 34 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs. Harris will be at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church 105 Arnold Street in Plumerville, Arkansas, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.by Rev. A. W. Bowie. Interment will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Springfield, Arkansas. The body will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. the day of the funeral at the church. Family visitation will be at Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 22, 2014.
