Obituary

Mrs. Lucille Overstreet Brown, age 88 of Menifee passed away Monday, December 6, 2010. Born March 1, 1922 in DeKalb, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Overstreet and Ollie Jane Scott Overstreet. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age in Chattanooga, TN. :Later on in life she moved to Chicago, ILL and joined Little Zion Missionary Baptist Chruch, Rev. E. R. Hines, pastor. She had a full Christian life that included being a Sunday school teacher, pianist and financial officer. She also loved to sing. She had many talents, onewas sewing. She could design a dress on paper and then make it. She also used her talent of sewing to make alterations for others who needed them. She devoted her life to being a mother and wife. She was married to Donald Weldon. To this union, five children were born. This union was dissolved. On August 7, 1959 she married Rev. James Brown. To this union, three children were born. After moving to Menifee, Arkansas, she became a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, AR, Rev. David E. Cox, pastor. She was preceded in death by her husband, four children, four sisters and five brothers. Mrs. Brown leaves to cherish her memories: one loving daughter, Sandra (Lewis) Bell of Menifee, AR, four sons, Credell and Jerry Weldon, James and Cletis Brown all of Chicago, ILL, 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, AR by Rev. David E. Cox. Burial will be in Owens Cemetery in Plumerville by Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Home of Morrilton.
