Obituary

Mae Bertha Rice was the first girl born to the late Thomas and Hattie Rice. On July 12, 1940, on a very hot day she made her arrival and blessed her happy parents. Mae, as she was affectionately called, accepted Christ in her life at an early age.She was baptized and joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. E. I. Jennings.She remained a faithful member until her death. She received her early education from Plumerville School and in 1959 graduated from Conway County Training School in Menifee, Arkansas.After graduation, she spent 32 years working at Levi Strauss & Company until she retired. Mae enjoyed life to the fullest.Her goal was to make everyone around her happy.She nurtured many children in the community, loved cooking and really enjoyed good quartet singing. On Tuesday night, November 19th at 10:27 P.M. she heard the voice of Jesus saying it's time to go from labor to reward.She gently took His hand and joined the heavenly choir. Those left to cherish many fond memories; one son John Milton (Hattie), three grandchildren Rita, Quintin and Shawn, two great grandchildren Earl and Rha'Shaud.Her siblings Thomas Rice, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois, Leola Adams of Miami, Florida, Emma Rice of Plumerville, Arkansas and Jimmy Charles Rice of Little Rock, Arkansas, several aunts, nieces, cousins and sorrowing friends. Funeral service for Mae Rice will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church 105 Arnold Street in Plumerville, Arkansas by Rev. David E. Cox.Interment will be in Owens Cemetery in Plumerville. The body will lie in state for viewing from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church the day of the funeral.
