Marilyn Evette Vette Canady passed from this life to her eternal home on Friday evening, July 8, 2016. She was born March 20, 1960, the 7th child of Johnny and Jaretha (Meeks) Canady.Vette accepted the gift of salvation God gave to us through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ, at an early age.She grew up in the New Mt. Zion Church and served in various capacities from Sunday school teacher, Superintendent, to one of the trustees on the missionary board. She graduated from Wonderview High School in 1978 and went to Petit Jean Vo-Tech to study practical nursing and received her LPN License.She later decided to go back to school for Registered Nursing and attended ULAR while maintaining a full time job and earned her Associates degree in nursing. She worked for Conway County Hospital (CHI-St. Vincent Morrilton) first as an LPN staff nurse.After obtaining her RN License, she worked as supervisor for the OB-GYN Department until that unit closed.She then worked in the emergency department as a House Supervisor.She reluctantly retired in June 2014 after 30 years of nursing due to her declining health. Vette loved to travel and made several trips in the United States, touring on Broadway in New York, cruising the Caribbean Seas, and Hawaii.She traveled out of the country including Paris, London and Niagara Falls, Canada.She was also a true sports fan and loved her Arkansas Razorbacks. She never married and had no children of her own, but children held a special place in her heart.She loved them all, but especially her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Harold, Allen and Perry Canady, two brothers-in-law, William Henson and James Funderburke. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one brother, Hildren (Clardine) Canady of Grandview, MO, five sisters, Almarie (Bobby) Smith of Niles, MO, Ora Henson of Cleveland, AR, Bettye Funderburke of Kansas City, MO, Terrie Banks of Orlando, FL and Rosemary (Neal) Payne of Conway, AR, two aunts, LoyseMcClunie and Marvene Meeks both of Kansas City, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as two very special friends, Willie Mae Surratt and Angela Howard. Funeral service for Miss Canady will be Saturday, July 16, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Arkansas by Rev. Eddie Williams, Sr. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church the day of the funeral. Interment will be in New Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cleveland, Arkansas.
