Mr. Matthew Brockman 81, of Center Ridge, Arkansas transitioned on January 11, 2024, at CHI Morrilton. Matthew Brockman was born July 12, 1942, in Center Ridge, Arkansas to the late Burnice Stuard and Classie Ann (Clinkscale) Brockman. Matthew was a graduate of Menifee High School, which at the time was the segregated school for black children in the county. Following high school, he began working in construction, leading him to pursue a career of entrepreneurship with his own construction company and partnering with others throughout the years. Along with construction, Matthew ran his family's farm. Raising cattle, pigs, and a variety of crops were only some of the duties included to provide for his family. Matthew, known to most as Slim, was a kind and loving father. Many would consider him the epitome of a country boy, who loved fishing and playing baseball. As the years passed, you could find him either on his tractor or on his back porch relaxing in his recliner. Matthew was adamant about teaching the Brockman tradition of gardening to his kids, grandkids, and whoever was willing to learn. He couldn't wait until winter was over to start working on sowing seeds for the upcoming season. He loved his animals, especially his dogs, who he considered friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Annie Odom, brothers, William, James, Frank, and LD Brockman. Matthew Brockman leaves to cherish his memory: Children: Gregory (Lisa) Brockman, Karen (Barry) Macon, Shelia (Willie) Vinson, Mary Brockman, 8 grandchildren: Krystal (Michael) Hampton, Whitney (Preston) Jones, Ashley Brockman, Dominique Vinson, Ferrin (Christian) Knight, Nicholas (Joanna) Brockman, Justin Vinson and Joshua Virgil and 8 great-grandchildren, a special friend and caregiver Joanne Acker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually 1Chronicles 16:11 Vance-Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Directors "The Epitome of Service" Memorial Service Saturday, January 20, 2024 11:00 AM The Robert & Barbara Wilson Memorial Chapel 106 E.
