Nola Helen Toney Young was born November 11, 1929 in Springfield, Arkansas to James L. Toney and Alice Ross Toney. She departed this life December 6, 2011. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to St. Louis, Missouri, she joined Union Vine Baptist Church. Later, she became a member of Pinelawn Glen Echo Baptist Church and remained until her death. She attended school in Menifee, Arkansas before moving to St. Louis. While residing in St. Louis, Missouri she believed in strong work ethics and entrepreneurial skills. Her vision was to become a self-employed business owner. She was the owner of a confectionary store from 1968 to 1991. She was married to William A. Young and to this union, six children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Young, one son, Rodney Eugene Young, two brothers: Albert Toney and Grover Toney, three sisters: Mae Warren, Loraine Elliott and Ophelia Walls. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Ronald A. Young, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ricky E. Young of St. Louis, Missouri, three daughters: Johnnie Young, Gloria J. Thomas and Mary J. Young all of St. Louis, Missouri, three brother: Charles Toney, James A. Toney and Altemis Toney, three sisters: Blomer Jones, Rosie L. Sampson and Scnellia Haines, eight grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three great- great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Young will be Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Churchin Plumervilleby Rev. Tremayne Harris. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Plumerville. The body will lie in state from 10;00 to 11:00 at the church the day of the funeral.
