Pinellia Gunnells, 85 of Atkins, Arkansas transitioned from Labor to Reward on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Pinellia Swinton-Gunnells was born in Blackwell, Arkansas November 1, 1935 to the late Jessie Swinton and Inez Roseborrow-Swinton. Pinellia attended school in Blackwell, Arkansas and L.W. Sullivan High School in Morrilton, AR. She moved to Kansas City, Kansas and joined in fellowship with the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. After 30 years, she moved back to Arkansas building a home in the Happy Bend community near Atkins, AR, where she attended Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church and St. Matthew #3 Baptist Church. Pinellia worked for Con Agra Frozen Food for 16 years before retiring. She also worked for the Area Agency on Aging for 18 years.
Pinellia is preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Inez Swinton, her husband Franklin Albert Gunnells, sisters, Mary Helen Wall and Granella Swinton, brother; James Lee Swinton, and Stepson Albert Gunnells Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories son, Alford Junior Swinton of Kansas City, Kansas. Three Grandchildren; LaTonya Wren-Hopkins of Lee Summuit, Missouri, Shameka Swinton and Delmetra Swinton of Kansas City, Missouri. Six great- grandchildren; Warren, Brianna, Nathan, Fredelle, Cameron, Shakyra, and Kenny, sisters; Mildred Morris of Morrilton, AR and Mattie Jo Harris of Kansas City, Kansas. Sister-in-law, Mertis Swinton of Blackwell, Arkansas; stepdaughter, Joyce Howard and a host of niece, nephews and friends.
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His word; Just to rest upon His promise; Just to know, Thus saith the Lord. Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him, How I've proved Him o'er and o'er, Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more.
