Obituary

Mr. Raymond Wright, 75 of Morrilton transitioned on January 15, 2025, at Conway Regional Hospital. Raymond was the youngest child, born to the late Charles Ector and Daisy Lee Wright on February 1, 1949, in Morrilton, Arkansas. He attended Morrilton High School, where his class was the first African American class to integrate the school. Raymond enlisted in the Navy for two years during the Vietnam War. He was stationed on his beloved destroyer The USS Samuel N. Moore. He received an honorable discharge. Raymond worked for meals on wheels. His hobbies were fishing and being a disc jockey. He is preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters: Emmett, Marie, Charles (Jack), Eula, Charlene, Bennie, William Earl (Wig), Willie James. Raymond leaves to cherish his loving memory daughter, Renae David of Augusta, GA; three sons, Christopher (Shawna) Smith of Morrilton, AR; Courtney Byers of Conway, AR and Brian (Katrina) Tolbert of Hampton, GA; two sisters, Zella Mae Osler od Kansas City, MO and Margaret Thrower of Waianae, HI; brother, Leonard (Leslie) Wright of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Mazie Wright; six grandchildren; Jalyn & Maya Smith, Starlene Wright, and Moses David Jr.; four great grandchildren, Xia Burns and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
