On September 29, 1918, God sent a heavenly angel, Brother Robert Mitchell to his loving parents Hilary Benson and Laura Wilma Mitchell in Menifee, Arkansas. On September 3, 2009, our Lord and Savior called our beloved from earth to glory where he is at rest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth Mitchell; parents, Hilary and Laura Mitchell; sister, Fraddia Woods and brother Hilary Mitchell. He began his Christian journey at the age of 15 when he acknowledged Christ as his savior at Canaan Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas. Robert was loved by many and had a loving sweet spirit. He graduated from AM&N College (UAPB), joined the U.S. Army and moved to Detroit where he worked for the United States Government as a logistics specialist and cataloger. He acquired a Masters Degree from Wayne State University. He then retired and he and his beloved wife, Helen, moved to Menifee. He was a member of the Menifee City Council. He was named a citizen of the year in 1996. He was a leader and comforter to all that knew him. Robert enjoyed sports, his family, and enriching conversation. Robert's never ending love an compassion he devoted to his family will be greatly missed. He had a positive impact on the lives of all those who knew him well. His memories will be cherished by two sisters, Gloria Jacobs of Miami, Florida and Verneda Brazzeller of Los Angeles,California; one brother, Thornton S. Mithcell, Sr. (Frankye D.) of Texarkana, Arkansas, many nephews, nieces, cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.
