Bro. Sammie Lee McDaniel was born in Plumerville, AR, September 8, 1930. He took his heavenly flight on May 21, 2011. He made a short stop in Conway Regional hospital, Conway, AR. The Conductor called his name and he stepped on board the train to glory. Bro. Sammie Lee met a pretty , petite lady named Mae Esther. She was smitten by him and they married after courting for a while. He moved with her to the Bethlehem Community and this was home for them for 53 years. He joined the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. W. J. Owens. After many years of worshipping with Bethlehem, he decided to return to his roots. He and his wife returned to worship at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Plumerville, AR, Rev. David E. Cox, pastor. He attended school at Conway County Training School in Menifee, AR. He graduated and attended A.M. & N in Pine Bluff, AR. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the rank of E-4. Bro. Sammie Lee worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 16 years. After making the decision to work closer to home, he started working at the Nuclear 1 Plant in Russellville, AR. He was known as the ""Domino King"", very few who challenged him succeeded in winning a game. This earthly journey for Bro. Sammie Lee ended when heaven's gates opened wide and he boarded the train to glory, not wanting to leave his family, but looking for his father. To keep his memories alive, Bro. Sammie Lee leaves a legacy: a devoted wife, Sis. Mae Esther McDaniel, she and ""Poppa"" shared a love for 53 years, five sons, Bobby (Jeanette) McDaniel, Clayton (Terri) McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Dale McDaniel and Maurice McDaniel, one daughter, Brenda McDaniel, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one brother , Jimmy Donald (Charlene) Wolfe, three sisters, Norma Jean (Adolphus) Gorman, Florence Jean Hervey and Rose Mary Whitted, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service for Mr. Daniel will be Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, AR by Rev. David E. Cox. Family visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2011 at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church the day of the funeral. Burial will be in Bethelehem Cemetery in Springfield, AR .
