Mrs. Sarah Mae Calvin, 91 of Morrilton, Arkansas transitioned on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Brookridge Cove Rehabilition and Care Center. She was born in the Friendship community of Conway, AR, the youngest daughter of the late James Robert Brody and Annie Mae (Pearl Lee) Cox Brody. At a young age, she was united in marriage to Ernest Calvin. Mrs. Calvin was a homemaker and babysat many children in the community. She loved a good time and to tell a funny story or two. Before her health began to fail, she enjoyed eating any type of greens on a near-daily basis, and she really liked her tea. If she could not pronounce "these new type of names" of her family or friends, she would graciously give them a new name which she could pronounce. And we all just answered to our newly given names going forward. Mrs. Calvin was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant daughter Margaret Louise Calvin, sister Helen Louise Williams, brothers Jesse Doris and Leroy. In addition to her relatives, she was preceded in death by special friend Daniel Byers, her Honey. Known as Mama, Grammaw, Aunt Sae-Mae, and simply Sarah Mae, Mrs. Calvin leaves to cherish her memory son James Calvin of Helena, AR; daughter Hesterene Smith of Conway, AR; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great-great grandchildren; and five generations of nieces and nephews. Always in our hearts will be her son Hubert Jefferson, whereabouts unknown. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
