Serleatha Fleming Mayfield, the second child of the late Harrison and Everline Fleming was born October 27, 1916 in Center Ridge,Arkansas (Abel Community).She departed this life Monday, October 20, 2014 in Morrilton, Arkansas. Serleatha professed a belief in Christ and was baptized in the Baptist faith at an early age.She remained steadfast in her faith in God her entire life. When she moved to Morrilton, Arkansas in April 1965, she united with Union Baptist Church, where she remained a loyal and active member until her death. She distinguished herself as a devoted wife, loving mother and a committed Christian.She loved God, people and never met a stranger.She also considered herself the best fisher person in Conway County. On December 25, 1933 she married Thomas Mayfield.To this union, she was blessed with two children, Osby Mayfield and Merlene Mayfield Tucker. Serleatha was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings and her husband, Thomas Mayfield. She leaves to cherish her precious memory and to celebrate her homegoing: one son, Osby (Marsha) Mayfield of Ennis, Texas, one daughter, Merlene Tucker of Morrilton, one brother, Calvin Canady of Springfield, Arkansas, two grandchildren, Stephanie Tucker of Newark, New Jersey and Jarvis Mayfield of Ennis, Texas, three great-grandchildren, Christopher Mayfield, Jeremy Mayfield and Denque (Nikki) Mayfield all of Ennis, Texas and one sister-in-law, Rose Mayfield of Chicago, Illinois. Funeral service for Mrs. Mayfield will be Tuesday, October 28, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Morrilton by Rev. Henry Anderson. Interment will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Morrilton. Public viewing will be Monday, October 27, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wilson & Jarrett.
