Obituary

Sylvia Rainey, the daughter of the late Willie Lee Vernon and Mable Vernon, was born on July 20, 1957, in Plumerville, Arkansas. She transitioned from this world peacefully on April 3, 2025. Sylvia graduated from Plumerville High School and afterwards pursued her passion for beauty at Hot Springs Beauty College. Though she initially envisioned opening her own salon, her path took an unexpected turn when she took a seasonal position at Walmart during the Christmas holidays that evolved into a dedicated career spanning over 40 years. Throughout her life, Sylvia bravely faced the challenges of Sickle Cell Anemia with remarkable strength and resilience. Despite the ongoing health struggles, she lived with unwavering spirit, finding joy and connection in the moments that mattered most. Her courage served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Sylvia was a beacon of love, kindness and strength, touching the lives of everyone she met. Sylvia will be remembered for her love for the Arkansas Razorbacks and jewelry. Most importantly, Syvia will be remembered for giving her life to Christ at an early age while attending Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, Arkansas. Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter Karla La'Mese Rainey her parents Willie Lee Vernon and Mable Vernon, siblings Willie Jean Bell and Michael Vernon. Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Lee Andrew Vernon (Janet) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, seven sisters, Stella Olowookere of Denver, Colorado, Beverly (Arthur) Wallace of Aurora, Colorado, Margaret Wilson of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Ann Chapman of Denver, Colorado, Susan Jackson of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Claressa "Lisa" Vernon and Zelda Beard both of Plumerville, Arkansas, host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her immensely.
